I was in an exactly right mood for these poems. The man (poet) seems sick with love craving to be heard in his passion and in some sort of astonishment and agony. He combines love and death, seasons, the sea, the earth and night. Ardor is palpable. I found the images very impressive.
“But I love your feet
only because they walked
upon the earth and upon
the wind and upon the waters,
until they found me.” (from "Your Feet", page 7)
Pablo Neruda (1904-1973), whose real name is Neftalí Ricardo Reyes Basoalto, was born in Chile. He has published a lot of poem collections which handle among other things political and social matters as well as love. It is said that his production is exceptionally extensive. The poems of this booklet are probably (?) taken from "Cien sonetos de amor" (1959), which includes poems dedicated to his wife Matilde Urrutia. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature in the year 1971.

Thank You Joika for bringing this book to today's meeting.
I'm not very good at reading poetry, but I'm old enough to try.
I also have to tell that I've never read anything written by Pablo Neruda.

As I said, I'm no good in reading poetry...
Anyway this little pink book is not difficult to read, it's not just my kind of litterature.

Thank you for the poems. Poetry is not exactly my cup of tea, but I'll try.

Beautiful poems, but I'm not sure if I understood everything. I'm not a big fan of poetry... An interesting curiosity was that everything was written in Spanish and English. I tried to refresh my Spanish which is very rusty nowadays.
