Another brilliant book from the man who never writes on the same theme or in the same style twice. Is there a literary term for this?

Totally original and fascinating. Peter, a former drug addict and alcoholic turned preacher, travels into space to preach on a new world, where a colony of carefully chosen people are starting out on an alien planet. He leaves behind his beloved wife Bea, and the difficulties they face being apart from one another are a central part of the book. Really gripping, loved this and would recommend it.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

I wasn't sure what I was going to think of this one really. It seemed like it could be really good... or really boring.

And to tell you the truth, the beginning was very very slow and I was getting bored. But as I got more into it and the pastor made it into the the town his new flock... things starting to pick up and have more of an interesting angle.

It's certainly not a very action packed story. There were aspects I didn't care for. But I liked the general outline and the semi barren new planet. It was full of questions. They didn't answer all of them but they certain gave you a taste.

I will say that I didn't like the ending at all. It really aggravated me. There's no real closure. Perhaps the author was leaving room for a Part 2. At least that would make more sense. Otherwise, I get what he was trying to do with the end and I just didn't like.

What I will give the author credit for, it the accurate portrayal of men and how they actually behave, even when they are in happy satisfying relationships. How self absorbed and callous they can become when they get wrapped up in some new thing, only realizing their error and the real cost of such a insensitive set of behaviors long after its too late.

It doesn't make for a happy story, but at least it's honest.

All in all, it's a good story for what it was. I'm still glad I read it.

So off this book goes, to a new reader! ;)
