I found this softcover in the Little Free Library on Todd Rd. in Lexington while dropping off some books of my own. Though subtitled "a novel", it's more of a linked collection of short stories and very-short-indeed vignettes, with overlapping viewpoints and timelines; progressing through the stories, scenes reappear, characters' motives are seen in a different light, and the general feel of the situations and settings changes.
I loved the concept, which almost felt like a "choose your own path" game at times, yet in the end I found myself dissatisfied. Some of the events are pretty bleak, or outright violent; the characters often felt too vague and lost to hold my interest. So - glad I gave it a try, but it didn't impress me as much as I'd hoped.
