Cisneros is one of my favorite authors, and Loose Woman remains my favorite poetry book of all time. I look forward to this much larger work of hers.

Just finished. It's not my favorite Cisneros book, that remains Loose Woman, but she's as lyrical as ever. The story goes back and forth between the grandmother and granddaughter speaking, which was difficult for me to adjust to at first. Good read though.

Cisneros is appearing at the Chicago Mexican Fine Arts Musesum on 3/26/04. I will likely have Loose Woman signed, though if there is time, I'll try this one as well.

Becoming a book ray - this will go to Europe to start, unless someone in the US claims it.

OK - the order is set, and the book is ready to travel.
Sorgin [Spain]
Brujula [France]
Raquelsita [USA]
Metropolitan [Brazil]

It was waiting for me in the post when I came back from my short travel to the mountains, and will start with it when I get done with the one I'm reading now.
Thanks for sharing this book with us, BlueAmazon!

Although I enjoyed it less that same author's The House on Mango Street, I liked reading this book very much.

It'll go off to France early the next week.

Another of the books that were waiting for me to come from vacation!
It looks really interesting. I'll try to read it fast!

Journal Entry 8 by Brujula from Valenciennes, Nord-Pas-de-Calais France on Tuesday, July 20, 2004
At last I could start reading this book yesterday!
I like very much her style, mixing spanish words with the English. It reminds me of the way we used to mix french and spanish at home! And the expedition for the summer... that brings back memories too!
I'm really glad to be able to read this book. I would never have thought of it without BlueAmazon's bookring!
I'll try to read it fast so the next on the list doesn't have to wait too long!

Journal Entry 9 by Brujula from Valenciennes, Nord-Pas-de-Calais France on Friday, August 6, 2004
I've really enjoyed this book. The style and the story flow at a peaceful pace... which could be the reason why I've taken time to read it, savouring every page! This is a book one can not rush through!

Thank you BlueAmazon for these nice times spent in company of Lala and her family!

Mailed today to raquelsita!

This book traveled all the way from France to my little mailbox in California. I've been waiting for it's arrival and it will go to the top of my book pile.

I was really looking forward to this book but unfortunately it just hasn't caught me after 80 pages. Maybe it's because I'm in an impatient mood and I have too many other things, like school, going on right now and I'm just not giving it a fair chance. But rather than try to force myself through it at this point, I'm just gonna send it on to the next reader. Maybe I'll pick it up again one day, especially since it seems everyone else has enjoyed it. Thanks for adding me to the ray BlueAmazon!

Received this book safe and sound. Thanks for sharing with us, BlueAmazon.

I enjoyed reading this book very much. How well I remember feeling divided between two entirely different cultures, living in NJ in my early teens, going to basketball school games on weekdays and Brazilian soccer games on weekends - trying to fit in both worlds and feeling inadequate in both. Oh, that teenager angst!
Thanks once again for sharing, Blue Amazon.
The book is now traveling to another town in São Paulo, called Sorocaba. I hope BookCrosser Anninhawiii enjoys it as much as we did.
