This is pair of gothic mysteries, involving damsels in peril in isolated, wind-swept castles overlooking the wild sea. In the first one a young woman is pretty sure her husband is going to kill her before her 21st birthday and she invites a friend to stay with her. Everyone in the house has secrets and nothing is what it seems. Also, there is quicksand. The second one is lurid and involves Satanists, mind control, bizarre ritual practices, a possessed cat, and of course...murder! It's a hoot.
