Everyone had a motive, but who had the means? Wally Carter's murder seems impossible--not one of the suspects was anywhere near the weapon at the time the shot was fired. The superlatively analytical Inspector Hemingway is confronted with a neglected widow, the neighbor who's in love with her, her resentful daughter, a patently phony Russian prince, and a case of blackmail that may--or may not--be at the heart of this most unusual case. First published in 1939.
Another mystery that had me perplexed until the end of the book when the murderer was revealed. The characters in this book were an amusing and rather weird assortment.

I received this book from tabby-cat-owner. Thank you so very much. I am looking forward to reading it soon.
The author of this book came up with an amazing plot that had me guessing until the end. In fact, I thought the bad guy might be a character I rather liked and I didn't want that person to be the guilty one and was quite relieved when it turned out to be someone else. The characters in the book were all a little off bubble...but lots of fun.
