Journal Entry 2 by slipperbunny at Helsinki, Uusimaa / Nyland Finland on Wednesday, December 2, 2015
I got this and Paper Towns today, but I'll read this one first.
Finished! My favorite John Green novel is still TFIOS, but all his other books have been good too. This book was pretty heartbreaking, but mostly because of the themes and not because of the people. I couldn't really relate to any of the characters, which is a problem with me in most of the John Green's books. But I liked this. And there were some laughs too.
I'm sending this to the next reader today. Enjoy!
Received this book, will read and send on asap
Couldn't seem to get into this book so I will just send it on to the next person.

After the wonderful The Fault In Our Stars, I've found all his other books disappointing. This is an improvement again but still doesn't beat TFIOS. I agree with slipperbunny that this book was pretty heartbreaking because of the themes (he does do heartbreaking well) and not because of the people. I couldn't really relate to any of the characters either and I don't know if this is partly because I didn't go to boarding school or university, or live anywhere else with communal living. I really couldn't get my head around people just walking into your room. I'd have the door locked and bolted and all my belonging tied down. Therefore perhaps I didn't understand the strong friendship that could develop in that situation. And as for the pranks ... that might just have driven me over the edge, especially Alaska's.
On its way in the bookray.
With me now. I have 3 more before this one, but I hope not to take too long....
It was the first book I have read from John Green (considering the previous comments, I have to read The Fault In Our Stars). I have liked reading this book even though I didn’t relate with the characters. It is not an easy theme however – teenagers with the idea that they are invincible and that friends are their whole world - having to deal with such a traumatic event.
