I found this book at the Little Free Library at the Arroyo Food Co-op.
I've read two books by Anne Lamott before: Bird by Bird (which I liked) and Crooked Little Heart (which I didn't like as much). So we'll see about this one. I've heard good things about it.

This is a memoir in a way, but each chapter is a separate autobiographical story. In each chapter some spiritual aspect connected to faith comes up.
It seems that the stories are kind of chronological. The book starts with the time before the author became a Christian when she had lots of problems with addiction. She becomes a single mother and there is a church where she is accepted and loved in her messed up state and she's slowly transformed. By the end of the book her son Sam is eight years old and of course he's part of many of the stories.
I liked the book. She's definitely not the "perfect Christian", but her struggles and the humor and insight with which she writes about her experiences are refreshing (after she overcomes her addictions) although sometimes I had the urge to shout a warning at her. Don't expect any really deep insights, but her experiences are kind of interesting.

I lent the book to my friend and just got it back after she read it. I think I have an idea who to give it to next.
Sending this as the Christian non-fiction book for a Swap-bot swap. It's a Christmas swap, so it may be a while until the book is unwrapped.
Enjoy!
