In One Skin

In One Skin is remarkably accomplished and mature for a first novel. It is an elegant and evocative book that explores the emotional ties of family life. Life's great themes appear in microcosm in this wise and beautiful story of a woman compensating for the loss of her mother and the absence of her beloved sister.

I have read Olsson's most recent nonfiction about her own family 'Boy Lost' and it was one of my favourite reads in 2014. This one is her first novel and again features close family ties with a mother and sister. Beautifully written and the author has an articulate way with language that I found such a pleasure to savour and found myself reading over several passages. Her work is very character driven with themes of loss at its centre. For readers who enjoy literature that features slow thoughtful prose this one is for you.
Posting to J4shaw today. Enjoy :)
A pre Christmas arrival - sorry for the delay in leaving a JE.
