This is a booklet of beautiful fine ink drawings of the flora and fauna of wetlands, specifically Huntley Meadows Park in Fairfax, Virginia, USA.

My favorite drawing in this collection is "Southern Leopard Frog".

What a coincidence.....When I chose this book I did not know the drawings were done at Huntley Meadows Park, Fairfax County in Northern Virginia. By coincidence I visited this park for the 1st time this year for a photography class taught by a staff member from the Insect Zoo, National Museum of Natural History in Washington, DC. We saw a large variety of woodland and water insects and plants, snapping turtles, birds, including Ruby throated hummingbirds, herons of several types including egrets and so much more. Wonderful place to visit.

Got this book from the annual Nov. cleaning of the bookshelf at Birdie's Cafe which is an Official Book Crossing Zone" (OCBZ) created by "MaryZ" and now maintained in her memory by BCinDC members.

I found this book last month in a free library box (not labeled as a Little Free Library, but operating similar to one) in Fairview Road Urban Park in Silver Spring, Maryland. I grew up in Fairfax County, so the drawings were a good reminisce and made me think about those things I might not have seen during my childhood.

I dropped this book off at the Little Free Library #12552 in the City of Fairfax, Virginia about 15 minutes ago. I hope it finds someone new!
