Book 1 of the Liveship Trilogy , Hobb's best work in my opinion

Book 1 of The Liveship Traders trilogy. The death of Althea's father will mean the quickening of her family's liveship, made of wizardwood, and Althea is the obvious person to inherit the ship. But her father has left the ship to her sister and her sister's domineering husband Kyle, and her nephew Wintrow is forced to give up training as a priest to be the member of the bloodline on board. Meanwhile, the pirate Kennit plots to become Pirate King, serpents in the depths seek for their ancient memories, and the mad liveship Paragon may not be alone much longer. Once again Hobb has come up with a totally original and captivating fantasy.

A wonderful book. Fantastic characters who I look forward to getting to know better. I've started the next book already.
