The Old Lady and the Birds
1 journaler for this copy...
I found this handsome hardcover at a local library book-sale. It's a rather poetic little tale of an old lady who "sits in her garden in Mexico under the pepper tree to watch the birds", and alternates between calling them ladroncillos ("little thieves") and feeding them, protecting them from the cat, and generally enjoying their presence. The images are collages involving lots of different materials, and are very evocative.
"Later, like a little singing wind,
she drifts through the garden
to smell the flowers.
Slowly, so as not to scare the birds."
