I found this good-condition hardcover on the Exit 2 park-and-ride book-swap shelf in Salem, NH, while dropping off some books of my own. The book's from a British series that I'm not familiar with, but it looks rather fun.

Later: Lots of quipping and snarkiness here, along with a rather complex plot centering on the ups and downs of being a djinn in the modern world - or of being half-djinn, as 12-year-old siblings John and Phlippa have to cope with. There are callbacks to the previous book, including the transformation of the twins' (apparently rather greedy and dangerous) uncles into two Rottweilers, now the family pets (!) - this actually turns out to be a key plot-point later in the story, sort of a Chekov's Rottweiler {wry grin}.

Amid all the humor there are some very serious plot-points here, and by the end of the book it seems that there will be more to come, leading to major changes for our heroes...

I left this book, bagged against the elements, on a bench near the sensory garden in Greely Park at around 6:30 or so. Hope the finder enjoys it!
