I'd never read any Larry McMurtry until my book group decided to do ToE last month. Well, what a pleasant surprise. Beautifully written, unexpectedly hilarious and extremely entertaining and moving. So much richer and more satisfying than the movie (although it's still a very good movie on its own terms, so to speak). I will definitely be reading more of his work in the future.
