Coming of age story about a nerdy and withdrawn freshman in High School who becomes the mascot of some older kids. One is gay (hence the horror of homosexuality), and the others occasionally have sex, drink, smoke, and take drugs. Sort of sweet, but totally predictable and derivative. It sure got a lot of people mad though.
