Susie dies at 14 at the hands of a neighbor. The rest of the book is Susie watching from heaven as her family struggles to cope. Some nice images, but story a little weak. After all, the book is about her observing lives, not living them. Fly far little book!

I am a 52 year old mom and spouse. I found this gem in A Little Library on the corner of Albert St S and Lincoln Ave in St Paul MN. While too true to the reality of abductions, assault, and murder the story primarily focuses on how the survivors attempt to carry on without Susie. And Susies attempt to move on as well. The story is told by Susie, the deceased, sharing her observations from above. This was a great read taking me into the life of the living and life of the dead. Beautifully written, depth of characters and insightful. I will be passing this book onto my high school teen to read. My kid is on a mission to read as many school banned books they can to learn why they are banned, etc. This one in particular is amazing!
