Unabridged on three audio cassettes.

"One long-ago Christmas, Big Earl Gibson lost the two things most precious to him-his wife and daughter. Angry and heartbroken, he abandoned his belief in God and is now living on the street. Gideon is a seven-year-old leukemia patient determined to reach out to this lonely and hurting man. And Earl is just as determined to rebuff her. It is only through a miracle that Earl finally comes to understand the true meaning of Christmas. And it's only then that he can return the favor with a precious gift of his own."

Although this book is set at Christmas time, it is inspirational at any time of the year. Gideon's innocence really helps her never to give up on helping Earl, a homeless man she meets at the mission. There is a lesson for all of us not to give up on people, because they look dirty or are particularly grumpy. There may be a tough story behind the exterior that just needs someone's persistent love to melt a hardened heart.

Wild released for Secretariat's 2016 Never Judge a Book By Its Cover Challenge (week 6: flowers), zbird's Groundhog Day challenge, and AlterEgoZoe's Leap into the Wild Challenge.

(Over the course of three days, I took 6 CD audiobooks, 18 cassette audiobooks, and 45 other books to the Great Aloha Run Health & Fitness Expo and left them at the end of the table in our booth. At the end of the last day, the only things left were 3 of the cassette audiobooks. Now let's see if I get any journal entries!)
