I thought this was a fascinating story; Margaret Fountaine must have been an amazing woman.
I've given this book to a friend who knows someone who may enjoy it. I hope they do, as I think its a really interesting insight into the life of a young Victorian woman.

A fascinating insight into the thoughts and life of a strong, talented and perceptive Victorian woman with an outlook ahead of her time. She was unconventional enough to find ways of experiencing the excitement and freedom that travel to far flung places allows, combining her curiosity about other cultures with butterfly collecting around the world.

The book tells of a inspirational pioneer, Margaret Fountaine, who was born in the Victorian era, and who managed to break all the barriers on the restriction of women at a time when it was unheard of to do so. Her actions and behaviours, although not widely recognised or known and acknowledged, will have been fundamental to 'planting the seeds' of the women's movement of which I am particularly interested. A very interesting women and an extremely good read.
