"When the renowned aviation hero and rabid isolationist Charles A. Lindbergh defeated Franklin Roosevelt by a landslide in the 1940 Presidential election, fear invaded every Jewish household in America…." A "what if" novel in which Charles Lindbergh, anti-Semite becomes President of the USA. Once in power, Lindbergh enters into an accord with Hitler…you get the picture.
Roth is one of the great American novelists of the 20th century. This looks like a gripping read.

A friend of mine read this book and insisted that I read it. Now I will. Thanks for this. Do you want it back when I'm done?

Hi Jessibud: If you think it's a great read, then sure, I'll give it a whirl. Otherwise....pass it on...

I really did intend to read this and it's been on my bookshelf for ages. But just today I found a paperback copy at BMV so will send this back your way (next time we meet). I am actually not so sure I have the stomach to read it at the moment as the USA turns in a more Nazi direction every day. But at least I will know that the copy I have is mine and not a BC book waiting to circulate.

Let me know if you get this JE as I never do anymore.

So compelling! Frightening resonances with today’s America.
