From the back cover:
It started out as an innocent road trip to Carlsbad Caverns to unwind, but now Max, Isabel, Michael, Liz, and Maria are totally regretting their plan.

Hundred of feet underground, in the cavern gift shop, Liz turns and is stunned to see someone she thought she'd never meet again--the man who shot her long ago in the diner. Their eyes meet and Liz bolts.

But running won't solve the group's new "problem." Because the shooter has recognized Liz. Now he wants her dead.

And nobody knows why.

8 out of 10

Gosh, I've really missed these characters. It was great to see them in a new adventure. And the chase scene at the end was really intense.

I'm not sure, however, about this author. His style of writing really bothered me at times. The dialogue sometimes felt a bit fake and forced (for example, the prologue seemed so cliche) and I sometimes felt like telling him that adjectives are not the only way to describe something. Also, he doesn't need to explain the allusions as much as he does. They're allusions; we're supposed to figure them out ourselves (perhaps that's the literature student in me speaking).

But all in all I enjoyed reading this book.

Just received this one. THANKS, karendawn!! I can't wait to dig in... I went to a used book sale this morning in hopes of finding more, but instead I just got a book from the Millennium series (had almost forgotten about that one!). But Roswell is still my fave. I will read soon and keep this one moving.

Well, karendawn, I felt the same as you about the talents of this author. I felt the same about one or two of the X-Files novels, comparing a so-so writer to a much better one later in the series. Teens (a word which was overused in and of itself in this book WAY too much) aren't so transparent and the unsavvy criminal nature of Joe Morton was a little thin. There was one really good quote by Maria to Michael: "You know, you could at least try to have a good time, for my sake. Or would you spoil your whole image as a Rebel Without a Planet?" Concise and a good movie reference!

I'll see if caligula03 wants this one before offering it up for grabs!
