Brandy Borne and her mother Vivian find themselves investigating the murder of a crooked antiques dealer who just happened to take Vivian for all she was worth. Now they are in a race to find the murderer before he or she strikes again because they could very well be next!

First book in the series - I quite liked it. Even if Brandy is a big fan of designer clothes (of which I know nothing at all), she is quite witty and funny. And the people around her are also quite eccentric too :) A nice mystery too.

A Friday treat! Bodes well for the weekend, if you find a book in the mailbox on Friday. I've read one book of this series before and liked it. Nice to see how the story began, as this is the first of the series.
I am in the middle of another book and tomorrow I'm taking lessons in Facebookery from my nephew - I'm antique as far as Facebook is concerned. That means this book will have to wait for a while.

Pic: Antique scales from Germany (Haushalt-Waage). No luck yet with this one. Into-the-Blue, wanna bid for this item?

I've tagged Into-the-Blue with this, but I also noticed that there is a forgotten tag to Chania on the queue first. Sorry about the delay! A courier from the north is coming next week, so I'll read the book before that.

Pic: Talking about antiques... I am having beginner's luck at the Finnish equivalent of eBay. I showed a picture of this circa 100 years old Arabia milk jar to an antique dealer and she said I could get 150€ for it. I put it for sale in the net and the bidding price is now 640€ with a week to go. None of the other things I've put there since have been of any interest to anyone, but I am totally hooked.
Edit: The final price was 1.125€ + the buyer was so happy he bought a newer jar for 60€. Utter madness, says I.

Edit 13th April 2017: This milk jar made it into newspaper, being one of the seven used items sold for over 1000€ this year!

It's been a while since I read another book of this series and I can't remember Brandy's mom being mentally this unstable. Either I've just forgotten or she has gotten better in later books. I'm still reading, wondering if I like this or not. Something about this irritates me, but I can't quite put my finger on it. I'm also being disturbed by the antique net auction. One of my "things" will expire soon and it has risen from 35 to 51€. Small potatoes comparing to my previous lucky strike.

Pic: An Arabia-porslain Mocca Master of gone by times... 51€, going once, going twice, sold! (Made between 1949-1964).

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:

Finished this morning, to be able to send it off today as our postal fees will increase on Monday. The book got better towards the end, although I had my suspicions.
Posting was a bit of a hassle. Just when I was leaving for post office I noticed that I didn't have Into-the-Blue's address. I asked it from her and from the forums, but for the first time ever BC-post went into junkmail!! So I didn't have it by five o'clock when post is collected here and post is not moved anywhere during the weekend, so now that I posted it after 5 pm on Friday, I don't know if I will be told that the package has too few stamps... Hopefully not. It was also nearly too fat for normal letter post, but I have a postal measurer at work and I was able to squeeze it through it...

Found among my mail when returning from a holiday. Thanks much!

I think this is not going to be one of my favourite series. But it was a good holiday read. I will leave it on the ship for the next reader. First ship that does not have a library. Strange!
