Picked up at the book swap tent during the Hawaii Book and Music Festival.

Adaline is the daughter of the famous scout Kit Carson and the Arapaho woman he married. After her mother dies, Adaline is sent to live with her father's relatives in St. Louis while he is on the Fremont expedition, but she finds it difficult to adjust to her new home.
