The Transit Of Venus (VMC)

So good I almost decided to keep it. It's a bit long though, so the chances of ever re-reading it are so small. The story of two displaced sisters as their lives intertwine, the grow apart during their lifetimes. Very good - I seem to like this series of Virago publications.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
This was supposed to be for last month, but I didn't finish it in time. Totally not on theme, but bringing along anyway. I thought it was fantastic. A fine piece of modern women's literature.

An oddly detached rendition of a tale of two sisters and their various loves. The writing style is beautiful but archaic; it doesn't read like something written in the 1980s. The action moves slowly and the main character, Caro, was less interesting to me than I think she was to the author - a sort of blank but sexy mystery, the sort of person more usually created by male authors than female ones.
A good experience all in all, but definitely not one to read if you like to have things happening regularly.
