"The return of one of fantasy's most exciting voices; a novel of breathtaking originality and harsh beauty."
"Awian exiles are building a settlement in the Darkling mountains, wherethe Rhydanne hunt. Their clash of interests soon leads to bloodshed in the snows and Shira Dellin, a Rhydanne huntress, appeals to the inmortal Circle for justice. The Emperor sends Jant, half-Rhydanne, half-Awian, and all-confidence, to mediate."

Not something I would have chosen myself, but I thoroughly enjoyed it, and couldn't put it down.
I will certainly be looking for others in the series!

I'm sorry, Deltic, but I can't get into this! I've been picking it up and putting it down for well over a week (which is a long time in terms of my usual relationships with books!) and this fantasy world still isn't taking shape in my imagination or becoming at all real for me. Although fantasy isn't my usual genre, I have enjoyed the odd few and was quite a Lord of the Rings fan in my youth, probably having read it at least as many times as I've got fingers, so I can't really explain why. It doesn't help that the viewpoint keeps changing with the frequent change of narrator .... So many characters - and I don't care what happens to any of them .... I've made it p115/311 but that's it, I'm afraid :-(

Well over a million people around the world give their books a unique BookCrossing IDentity number (BCID) before sending them out to find new readers. Since the start of the scheme in April 2001 more than eleven million such books have been put into circulation. This is one of them!
Our hope is that we can track the progress of our books once they've left our hands - and that's possible if finders like you visit the website, key in the BCID and leave a comment, however long or short. It's fun, it doesn't have to cost anything, although the site always appreciates donations towards running costs, and you can remain anonymous if you wish. You don't have to join but if you do you'll be able to number and track your own books!
