Uncle Montague's Tales of Terror
4 journalers for this copy...
Edgar is a child who decides to pop in to say hello to his Uncle Montague's. He has still two boring lonely summer holidays in a village, and can't stand it anymore. The uncle and his own father do not get on well, because the uncle is a bit too eccentric for everybody's taste. In the village there are other children, but they seem to keep their distance, something which Edgar's parents agree with, as they are quite snobbish. Montague lives accompanied only by Franz, a kind of butler/servant.
Edgar is eager to hear Uncle Montague's tales, each based of an object of the exquisite collection he has amassed. Each episode is a horror tale. However, the action in the frame plot advances - until the chapter before last is Uncle Montague's own story. Then there is one more episode, a kind of coda which I didn't really like
This is a book for teenagers - supposedly, but I think that sometimes the stories are quite terrifying, so I would recommend it to fans of horror stories by Stephen King, for example.

Veleta, thank you for bringing this book to the meetup, I loved it!
I think you may have missed something from the last story, in that it confirms what I thought might be the case about Edgar. Remind me to tell you next time we meet!
