John Tradescant the Younger has inherited his father’s unique collection of plants along with his unerring ability to nurture them. But as gardener to Charles 1, he confronts an unbearable dilemma when England descends into Civil War. Fleeing from the chaos, John travels to the Royalist colony of Virginia in America. But the virgin land is not uninhabited. Was good to follow the lives of he family but also s good stand alone novel. Makes me want to now do research about their real lives. I wonder if there is any evidence for John trandescent having a relationship with an Indian woman or if they is just creative license.
