The Devil's Star

A young woman is murdered in her Oslo flat. One finger has been severed from her left hand, and behind her eyelid is secreted a tiny red diamond in the shape of a five-pointed star - a pentagram, the devil's star.
Detective Harry Hole is assigned to the case with his long-time adversary Tom Waaler and initially wants no part in it. But Harry is already on notice to quit the force and is left with little alternative but to drag himself out of his alcoholic stupor and get to work.
A wave of similar murders is on the horizon. An emerging pattern suggests that Oslo has a serial killer on its hands, and the five-pointed devil's star is key to solving the riddle.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
A book for the Norway prize at the convention raffle.
This book was in my Norwegian raffle prize, luckily in English - and signed by the author! Thank you, travelina!(So it's too precious to be wild released.)
And thank you for the great convention!
First I'll have to read "The bat" which I also picked up at the book buffet and then try to find out the correct reading order. because the Harry Hole series is new to me!

Finally I read this book - after “The bat“ and “Cockroaches“. I didn‘t want to wait for number 3 and 4 in the series, so I picked up this book.
I enjoyed it, it was a real page-turner, with lots of unexpected twists and turns and a great showdown!
I like the “unorthodox“ way Harry Hole works.
(Unfortunately my cat Rudy got his claws on it one early morning when he was hungry, he didn’t like the book and the first three pages, including the one with the author‘s signature, are now scratched beyond repair. The next three pages are now repaired with sellotape... - Sorry about that... :( )
