Intrigued by the title of this - found in the Flon bookbox (a new discovery for me!) How did it get from the Valentin to the Flon?
The weed of the title is hemp which is incidental to the story but not the main subject, so a little disappointment there... But it is a catchy title, like The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie, to which this is a follow-up, featuring the same precocious 10-year-old Flavia de Luce, inordinately fond of chemistry and especially making poisons. It is set in a 1950s English village with its cantankerous telephones, itinerant Punch and Judy shows, eccentric inhabitants, a prisoner of war, tragedy and murder.
