Picked up cheaply. I saw the TV film version of this and remember it as a thoughtful, non-reactionary examination of some really interesting issues. Looking forward to reading it.
This is a good book about a difficult topic. It's not exactly fun to contemplate the misdeeds of a child murderer (who committed the crime when he was a child himself) and the frequent chapters which deal with his past make it clear where the blame for the crime should be placed, but neither is A let off the hook. It manages to foreshadow grim events to come without making it obvious, and the language feels authentic and refreshing.
