Set in 2005, year of the G8 summit in Gleneagles, of Making Poverty History. Edinburgh is full of protesters - including Siobhan's parents. The murder of a rapist thug is being given poor attention, but Rebus, though only a year from retirement, can't let it drop. Then an MP falls from the castle walls. Did he jump? Was he pushed? Special Branch are determined to hush it all up. This must be one of Rankin's best.
