It is 1940, and bombs fall nightly on London. In the thick of the chaos is young American radio reporter Frankie Bard. She huddles close to terrified strangers in underground shelters, and later broadcasts stories about survivors in rubble-strewn streets. But for her listeners, the war is far from home. Listening to Frankie are Iris James, a Cape Cod postmistress, and Emma Fitch, a doctor's wife. Iris hears the winds stirring and knows that soon the letters she delivers will bear messages of hope or tragedy. Emma is desperate for news of London, where her husband is working ? she counts the days until his return. But one night in London the fates of all three women entwine when Frankie finds a letter...a letter she vows to deliver . . .
I quite enjoyed this - an interesting setting and bunch of characters.

Thankyou , this looks like a great read, even better that its set in London and Cape Cod, both favourite places of mine, so it will be all the more enjoyable to read.

Finally started reading this on a wet and windy holiday in north Devon, but the pictures of Cape Cod were clear in my mind. Apart from one minor point - could you really just catch the train from London to Dover & then Calais to Paris during the war?? - I found it gripping and moving. I certainly didn't see the final ending coming, but won't put any spoilers in here. Many thanks for sharing, I'll try to release this at a zone soon.

CONTROLLED RELEASE NOTES:
Sent off as part of the wishlist game. I've read this twice now, so it really is time to share!
Arrived safely today. Thank you very much for the tag!
An interesting tale of intertwining stories. Like millycat I'm curious as to how likely it would have been that Frankie could have travelled as she did. I shed a tear at one point - difficult subject matter beautifully written.
AVL until I find a new reader.
