North Carolina Legends
4 journalers for this copy...
Picked this up while on vacation (the Lost Colony visitors center) in Roanoke N.C.
(The Outer Banks.)
This is a collection of forty-eight colorful Tar Heel legends from around the state.
Among the stories are "The Moon-Eyed People," "Virginia Dare the White Doe," "Blackbeard's Last Fight," "Old Dan Tucker," "Young Andrew Jackson's Skylarking," "The Portrait of Theodosia Burr," and "Jesse Holmes the Foolkiller."
Striking drawings by Bill Ballard, one for each tale,
bring North Carolina's mythical past to life.

A collection of folklore from North Carolina.
Something that I would pick up, here and there, and read a story
before laying it aside again.
I guess I just don't enjoy this type of book now as much as I did when I was a teenager.
Bought at the visitors center while in search of The Lost Colony, Outer Banks, N.C. .

Hope you enjoy these stories.
Hope you enjoy these stories.
arrived this week. Thanks! Adding to the TBR shelf, and likely will be a bedtime one story/night read.
RABCK from hostile17; As with any locale, there are "legends" = stories about the place. This book doesn't try to explain them. It just tells them. I had no idea that some of the folks were associated with North Carolina, so the ones on Daniel Boone & Andrew Jackson had me scurrying over to Google to find if the link was true (it was). If you're inclined to check into more info about the legend, there's notes in the back. Now moving on in the "N" bookbox.

If you aren't familiar with Bookcrossing, take a few minutes to check out this very cool site. Bookcrossers LOVE books, and more than anything, they love to read books and then set them free for other people to find and enjoy. I would love it if you would leave a journal entry -- you can say where you found the book or how you liked it when you read it. Then, when you are ready, pass it along for someone else to enjoy! Thanks and happy reading!
Chosen from the "N" bookring.
I've enjoyed reading these stories. I'm headed to South Carolina next week. I'll look for something to go with it.
