"Did you carve this?"
Tas did not turn. "Yes," he said, reluctantly. "I have to leave it."
"But, Tas, why?"
Tas squared his shoulders as though firming some resolve. But still he did not turn. "Because the shepherd said that it could only be used once. Thats why I can't get the pipe to play that song-or any song. I've used the magic." He took a deep breath and went on. "And he said that once I found the magic I had the pass the pipe on." he paused and then he did turn, a scamp's humor in his long brown eyes. "It's going to be a long winter. I'm going to leave it here for someone else to find." "Snowsong" by Nancy Varian Berberick

taken from the Otherworldly book box.
I actually liked this one much better than the previous book. But it had a much more personable set of main characters in my opinion. not going to continue with this series though.
mailing this to the June paredevil exchange member.
Excellent!!! Second book in the series. Did I mention I really enjoy a series.
This will be traveling to another BCer for the Paradevil monthly exchange.
Enjoy!!
Enjoy!!
Received in the mail today for the ParaDevil book exchange. Thanks. I know mom will enjoy reading it so I will give it a go after she is done.
Mom is finished with this one and my pile is too high to save , so I'm adding it to Emmejo's Otherworldly Bookbox.
This book rode to the end of the Otherworldly Book box.
One of the starter books for the Vampire Bookbox
I'm claiming this well-traveled book from the Vampire bookbox
Later: Nice inversion of the damsel-in-distress tale - with the hero-in-distress being in one serious world of hurt, before a talented thief comes to his rescue. Lots of back-story on both sides, with plenty of revelations to balance the immediate attraction. (While I found the relentless cruelty of the Brethren too simplistic and over-the-top, it did make it very satisfying whenever they were thwarted.) The secondary couple, Michael and Alexandra, have their own rescue-thing going on - I'm deducing this extends from the events of a previous book, but it was relatively easy to follow.
There's a nice (if not *that* surprising) plot-twist at the end, and lots of unexpected humor throughout - a nice break from the more vicious plot-points!
