This is a really entertaining little thriller!!!! It's set in 1914 England, just before the start of WW1. A Russian anarchist called Feliks arrives in London from Switzerland with plans to assassination Prince Orlov, relation of Tzar Nicholas 2nd, and nephew to Lady Lydia Waldon, also Russian but married into British aristocracy. Her husband Stephen Waldon, is speaking with Churchill to persuade Prince Orlov to persuade Tzar Nicholas to be allied with Britain if/when war breaks out in Europe...... unless Feliks can get to the Prince first! But - why does Lydia recognise him??? And Lord and Lady Waldon's daughter Charlotte...... will she become involved in the treachery???

I enjoyed this, it was well written and had very well developed characters. The story was good and well paced and I enjoyed the history. My only complaint was the ending, it felt really rushed and had the strangest epilogue I have ever read. I know Follett's later books are a lot better, some of my favourites in fact, but it's always nice to see where and how an author started.
