The Orchardist

From Amazon:
At once intimate and epic, The Orchardist is historical fiction at its best, in the grand literary tradition of William Faulkner, Marilynne Robinson, Michael Ondaatje, Annie Proulx, and Toni Morrison.
In her stunningly original and haunting debut novel, Amanda Coplin evokes a powerful sense of place, mixing tenderness and violence as she spins an engrossing tale of a solitary orchardist who provides shelter to two runaway teenage girls in the untamed American West, and the dramatic consequences of his actions.

Enjoy the book and don't forget to journal it so that people have an idea of where it is going :)
Thank you for tagging me.
The storyline was pretty slow but you had to keep reading. The prose is certainly beautiful and gives a real sense of time and place.

Received yesterday. Thanks! I have lent this to a friend, as I am currently reading A Little Book of Celtic Verse.
Back to me again, with the recommendation, 'This is a good book!'. I'm still reading The Fatal Shore, by Robert Hughes.
Sad story, but not without glimpses of redemtion. Beautifully written, and well-crafted atmosphere and sense of place. Next, I plan to read Great Expectations, by Charles Dickens.
