This is one nasty number,
and his butt is full
of propellers.

I just want to say....

Yes, that's right! I kicked this book! What a nasty little story! Maybe it was the over glossy and graphic images... or maybe that I don't really like horror anyways... but BLEGH!!
DON'T LIKE IT!! ~kicks it again~
Bad book! BAD!! ~breaks its nose~

In a desperate moment of realization, Gorydetails' books were running everywhere, wild and on the loose! :O
With a heavy net and putting tacky on the ground, I got as many of those little bastards for a trade before they all ran away! TT-TT
I lost several good ones in the battle... TT-TT
But in the chaos and dusty sunset's light, this is one I trade to her for those little wild beasts of hers~
:P

The box-o-books arrived in the nick of time, as the cardboard was splitting around the edges. But the books are all safe on this lovely, summery day. Many thanks!
I couldn't resist choosing this one, with a title like Severed...
Later: I really enjoyed this, despite - or because of? - the over-the-top violence (much of which happens off-screen, which only makes it worse as it leaves the reader to imagine the details) and the increasingly horrifying situations.
We meet young Jack, who's determined to run away from his apparently loving adopted mother in order to ride the rails and find his wandering-musician father. He runs into danger immediately upon hopping a freight - the "railroad bulls" were brutal guards whose job included keeping hobos off of the trains, and they weren't too fussy about the methods they used. But Jack is rescued by another young wanderer, Sam, and they eventually team up to try and get to Jack's father.
While all this is going on, we see another character at work, a very sinister one who's bent on luring young people into deadly traps. When his path intersects with that of Jack and Sam, an increasingly horrifying story ensues - with some very tragic turns indeed. And while the framing device tells us of at least one character who survives, it doesn't necessarily lead to a happy ending...
Very effective story here!
[There's a TV Tropes page on the comic, but do beware of spoilers if you haven't read the book yet.]
