The Language of Baklava

Thoroughly enjoyed this book, more than I expected. The author did a great job capturing her father's personality: a big-hearted, charismatic foodie with his dreams and his complex longing for his family back in Jordan. On the other hand, her mother is a somewhat hazy figure, and I wish to learn a little bit more about her - how is it like to be married to such a man, how she felt to be uprooted and moved to a foreign country... But overall it's a wonderful, heart-warming book about a girl and her love-hate relationship with her father and her bi-cultural root.
The book also makes me hungry for Jordanian food. Sadly I yelped but couldn't find any restaurant in my neighborhood. There is a couple of Persian restaurants and Middle Eastern places that serve the usual kabobs, hummus, falafel, but in this book there are so many dishes I haven't heard of, and they all sound so delicious. And oh yes, I definitely want to try a Fattoush salad.
