I became interested in reading this book when I accidently stumbled across the movie on television last year. I loved the character of Smilla and would like to read her words and thoughts as originally written.

I initially saw this movie a few years ago and loved its slow mesmerising quality. I was more than glad to see that the movie hadn't veered too far from the book and that the quality was all there in the writing prior to filming. You can't help but respect and admire Smilla, a tough but vulnerable heroine with a strong moral fibre. The story remains interesting and mysterious throughout and I learned more about ice and Greenland than I really ever wanted to.

The book kept me cool during a short visit home to my family in Australia where temperatures often rose to above 40 degrees.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

Left on the Blacksmith Stone on a freezing cold Sunday in February. My friend and I decided to visit Averbury after another of our friend's got married in Salisbury and our return to London plans got unceremoniously changed at the last minute. The Stone Circle was amazing, as was the violently green countryside around the monument. A truly interesting and beautiful area of England and I'm very glad to have had the opportunity to visit it.
