Caldwell's second book that took 10 years to write and almost bankrupt him personally. Glad he stuck with it - if you ever wanted to know the inner workings of the Vatican, this book is full of details to immerse you into that culture. Solving the murder mystery is almost secondary to the other plot lines going on (figured it out earlier anyway) - the relationships and impact of decisions on the central figures were more engaging.

Brought this home for my husband to read. His review is as follows:
Found it went off the story line quite a bit. Seemed to add a lot of unnecessary information. The relationships were two dimensional and the pace was too slow....not a fan.
