I know your name's not really Jane Hughes ...
Jane Hughes has a loving partner, a job in an animal sanctuary and a tiny cottage in rural Wales. She's happier than she's ever been but her life is a lie. Jane Hughes does not really exist. Five years earlier Jane and her then best friends went on holiday but what should have been the trip of a lifetime rapidly descended into a nightmare that claimed the lives of two of the women. Jane has tried to put the past behind her but someone knows the truth about what happened. Someone who won't stop until they've destroyed Jane and everything she loves ...

In short, a good, gripping read on the whole but I did feel let down by the ending.
The story is told by Jane & along with the events that are currently happening, we learn just what happened on that fateful holiday five years ago, This format, though no longer original, worked well. In the "present" there were enough twists to keep you doubting the veracity of some of the characters, while the events of the past were quite enthralling. The claustrophobic atmosphere of the retreat & the manipulative Isaac made for gripping reading as the holiday took a distinct turn for the worse.
On the downside however, I can't say I cared about any of the four girls - a strange group of "friends" indeed. Daisy in particular I found obnoxious but I guess if that was the authors aim then she was bang on! And for me, the build up of tension that was culminating so nicely fell flat as things reached their conclusion both in the present day & the past.
Overall an entertaining & engrossing read for the majority of the book but I was disappointed by the endings to both periods, particularly those of the present.
