9 out of 10

Released on Sunday, February 08, 2004 at The Pen Cafe & Bistro - 319 Governor's Court in New Westminster, British Columbia Canada.

I left this book on the shelf at The Pen Cafe this morning (a coffee shop located in the gatehouse of the former BC Penitentiary -- see photo). It was a great morning for reading there -- quiet jazz playing, with great smells of coffee and baking in the air and the sun trying to break through outside. I highly recommend this little-known (and under-appreciated) coffee shop to anyone living in the area.

(For compulsives like me, who would prefer to read the whole series in order, these are the books in Rankin's Inspector Rebus series from the beginning: Knots and Crosses, Hide & Seek, Tooth & Nail, Strip Jack, A Good Hanging, The Black Book, Mortal Causes, Let it Bleed, Black & Blue, The Hanging Garden, Dead Souls, Death is Not the End (a novella), Set in Darkness, The Falls, Resurrection Men and A Question of Blood.)

I found this book at The Pen Cafe. I first thought someone had forgotten it but then saw the Book Crossing info. I had heard about this before and always thought it would be fun to find a book like that, here was my chance!! I looked at the story and thought how much I would like to read it, especially since the story took place in Edinburgh, Scotland. I had been there the summer before and I loved it there. I really enjoyed the book. I haven't read anybooks by Ian Rankin before, but I would certainly read more of them now. I will let this book go on for more advenures....
