This is a very heartbreaking book of a woman's decline who has been diagnosed with early onset alzheimer's. It chronicles the disease stage by stage. Is very informative, but also heartbreaking.

Picked this up at the book buffet. I ordered this from my library to read before the film came out. The film has come and gone and I'm still only 12th on the list.

An interesting read but the main character doesn't attract sympathy. Throughout this novel I never got to know the characters. They came across as two-dimensional and it was as though I was watching them from a distance. I didn't believe in the way Alice's children behaved or that her husband could be so detached. The whole scenario of the dementia being revealed to the family was presented in a matter-of-fact, somewhat unemotional manner. At one point in the story, Alice can no longer read a book, as she cannot retain the information of what was in the earlier part of the book, or even a few sentences ago. While I know Alzheimer's affects the memory, it didn't occur to me that it could affect reading in such a way. For a reader, this really hits home hard. I gazed around my room at all the books I have, all the books I hope to read one day - hey one day I'll retire and have nothing to do but read, right?

I found this book really good and really heartbreaking. I was n tears at several points throughout the book.

I was cross with John as well but I think burying his head in the sand was his way of coping.

I liked Lydia, she seemed to be the most down to earth.

I actually scared myself a couple of times when while reading this book I forgot things.

I also think I'd struggle with the Alzheimer test myself and as far as I know my brain works.

Thank you again for sending me this book.

I also think that John and Alice needed more of a life outside work.

Make the most of everyday as you don't know whats round the corner.
