The Last Anniversary
11 journalers for this copy...
One abandoned baby. Two sisters with a secret. One chance to rewrite the past.
Over seventy years have passed since sisters Rose and Connie Doughty found an abandoned baby near their home on the island Scribbly Gum. With no one to take care of it, Rose and Connie took the baby in as their own.
Since then the 'Munro Baby Mystery' has brought fame and fortune, putting Scribbly Gum on the tourist map, especially for the island's annual celebration.
But now, with Connie dead and outsider Sophie Honeywell about to move into her home, Rose begins to wonder if they made the right decision all those years ago. How much longer can they cover up the lie that has sustained their community for generations? And what other secrets are about to be revealed?
Another intriguing book that I will have to add to my reading list! This copy has been sourced from Amazon UK as an Easter RABCK - hope you enjoy it!

Stuck in bed with flu, so finally have time to tackle Mount TBR!
Really enjoyed this lovely, funny, suspenseful, poignant story. The characters were so well written that I felt I lived on Scribbly Gum Island with them (I wish!). I hope the author writes a sequel, as I'd love to find out what happens next to the characters!
Thanks again ukcanaus!

This one has already made it back to me after a trip to the care home to my aunt. I will find it another home. :-)
Update - This book was sent to me to give to an elderly relative in a care home who is currently reading a great deal. When it made its way back I took a closer look as it's an author I've not come across before and there was something about the wording on the cover that made me think I should give it a go.
I didn't really take to the main character, it was the mystery that kept me reading, I felt I needed to know what had happened. It was a light entertaing read that touched on a few serious issues, looking at the reviews it seems that this is not her best book, so maybe a look at one of her others in the future might be in order.

I found this book slow at first, the characters seemed to be too much in their own thoughts and too little action so the story took longer to reach its conclusion than I felt it should have.
I did figure out who Enigma's Mother was before it was revealed but would never have guessed all the circumstances that lead up to it.

This book will be travelling soon.

I enjoyed this novel, although maybe not as much as a couple of her later ones.
A little slow to start and I found it quite difficult to keep all the characters straight at first, but it definitely improved as it went along.

Considering that I actually DIDN'T like 'Big Little Lies' I am so happy to say that I enjoyed reading this book, right down to the very last, fantastic page ;-) I also thought it was well-written and full of twists and turns (and I'm a little in awe, as a writer myself).
I'm looking forward to passing this on to the next lucky reader :D
