I came across this slim softcover at the local library's annual book sale. I'd enjoyed Bruchac's The Earth Under Sky Bear's Feet, and this one looks good too: Native American tales for each of the 13 moons in a year, as counted off on the plates on the back of a turtle.
I enjoyed the poems and the lovely illustrations. "The Moon of Popping Trees" sounded familiar - it's been a very, very cold winter here. "Moose-Calling Moon", in autumn, comes with a wonderful illustration of a moose browsing beside a pond surrounded by flame-colored foliage. And "Big Moon", the last entry, has a stunning landscape showing a full moon reflected in a pond.

I left this book on a bench at the entrance of Benson Park at around 1:45 or so; hope the finder enjoys it!

I didn't think the book would still be there since I got the notice it was released yesterday. But it was a beautifully warm afternoon and I decided to take my daughter to the park for a walk. The book had blown off the bench but I found it laying on the melting snow protected by its zip lock bag :-) Thanks!
