Yesterday my friend and neighbour who BookCrosses as Blower offered me my choice from a bag of books she'd been given by another friend.
I chose this as one of the four I brought home with me because I enjoyed its companion volume, Dear Lupin: Letters to a Wayward Son, i.e. Louise's brother Charlie, about eighteen months ago. I've been hoping to further entertain myself in the company of this individual family ever since!

Roger Mortimer was an eccentric who wrote strange letters to his offspring, with odd snippets of gossip and weird pieces of advice! Charlie published a collection of his as Dear Lupin. These are Louise's! To a Wayward Son and To a Disobedient Daughter! Amusing and decidedly quirky .... :-) Thinks: I wonder what Jane, aka Miss Bossy Pants, did with hers!

13.5.15 Well, research showed that his first-born had also gone into print and that Ripon Library had a copy of Dearest Jane ... My Father's Life and Letters by Jane Torday and Roger Mortimer available. As the title suggests, she doesn't just leave the letters to speak for themselves but also gives us an account of his life, starting before she was born with his war-time experiences and letters home! I much prefer her siblings' approach - which she adopts in part!

Returned to Blower with best wishes for a happy holiday :-)
Not something I would have chosen myself but Nu-Knees had read and recommended this to me and I enjoyed it!
It was an insight into the lives of Roger Mortimer, his family and their social group.
