OK. It's been a full year and a half since I caught this book, in mid-February 2004. It was left near the academy where my mother works as one of the management people for a lucky person to find, and the lucky person turned out to be me... not that I made the most of this opportunity though, for it took me this long to finally enter and explore the site and I never even finished the book! However, I did think it was a very special novel, both because of the story (a fourteen-year-old prostitute in the 18th century making her way through life on the streets) and the way it's written - the writing style is difficult to describe: emotional, absorbing, while still containing a cool dryness. At least, that's what I can remember. I'm going to read through the whole thing over the next few days, and properly enjoy it. Can't wait to get stuck in again! ^^
