I got this battered-but-readable paperback at the Book Cellar. It contains 9 short stories or novellas by the author of the Dune series, several of which tie in to, or served as the inspiration for, other novels of his.

I admit that I couldn't get into most of these stories; of them all, "Mating Call" is the only one I could really say that I liked. But then, I only enjoyed the first two or three volumes in the "Dune" series too, so perhaps I just have a limited tolerance for Herbert {wry grin}. (Perhaps my favorite Herbert novel of all is the non-SF Soul Catcher...)
