"He's so stupid it breaks your heart." Best quote ever.

awww. I read because i was looking for another Catcher in the Rye. I now know there can never be another Catcher in the Rye. But I rode it out and stuck with it. What Zooey tells his sister is just.... and how he did it. amazing.

I found the book in my mailbox today, thank you q-cow.
I hope I can find the time to read it soon

Shine your shoes for the Fat Lady

I finally finished the book today. I read it in a few days, but it took some time to begin; I'm sorry q-cow.

When I was fifteen years old I read The catcher in the Rye. I partly re-read it when I was twenty and today still, it is one of my favourite books ever.

Sadly, I didn't really like Franny and Zooey. I couldn't concentrate on the story, something that only rarely happens to me when I'm reading. I think the whole concept of the story (I looked some things up on the Internet) was just a bit too vague.

Still, I am very glad to have finally read this book, so thanks again q-cow! When I was fifteen and so enthusiastic about The catcher in the rye, I had a friend who advised me to read Franny and Zooey as well. And now, fourteen years later, I finally did.

Franny and Zooey are going to continue their travels tomorrow, when I will mail the book out to paulainen in Finland.

I received the book today before I even was on my way to school, many thanks to Wilmar! I try to start reading it as soon as possible but it might take some time, though, due to school.

Finally, during christmas break I had the time and energy to read this book. And I'm glad i did, since, I cannot help it but, Salinger has become one of my personal favourites. His gloomy and depressed storytelling has compelled me. Ordinary life is intriguing to the point of absurdity and brutality and the innocent are bound to suffer. Phew, what a book!

The book is on its way to Germany, don't get lost!

Arrived yesterday - thanks a lot for the RABCK, paulainen! I've been wanting to read this book ever since I first saw it in my favorite TV show "Once and again" :) where one of the main characters owns a bookstore called "Booklovers" and this is her favorite book...

I finished the book this morning (a really quick read) and it left me feeling quite disappointed. I've been looking forward to reading this book for so long, but I couldn't really connect to the characters at all. I kept asking myself "what's the point of this story?". It was just a little bit too weird for my taste. Nonetheless, I'm really glad that I finally had the chance to read it - so thanks again for the RABCK!

It was the first book, I have read from the box. I agree with you, it is not a good book and no new Catcher in the rye.

Franny and Zooey made a nice counterpoint after Better than Running at Night by Hillary Frank as the themes are so similar. While the story is mostly about Franny's depression, I fell in love with Bessie Glass, the family matriarch.

I can't believe I had this book for so long! I finally picked it up yesterday and already finished reading it today. What a strange little book. I had never read anything by J.D. Salinger before and this was an interesting start. I'm still not quite sure what the story was actually about, but I liked the characters and how they continually got carried away with their conversations. It was really quite gripping, though I can't really point out why. :D

I will try and find a new reader for this soon!

Got a bit caught up in the holiday period chaos, but the book is on its way now to teuffi, who had it on her wishlist. Enjoy!

Apologies for the delay in journalling this book, received it the day before Salinger passed away, which was a bit weird...
Looking forward to reading it! Thanks very much for sending it rapturina!

Oh dear, did I really have this book for so long before opening it? Ouch...

Finally got round to reading Franny and Zooey and I am glad it was a quick read. I liked the way Salinger approached the characters and deconstructed their feelings. But for me the end just ruined it all. It felt like suddenly Salinger had had enough of Franny's and Zooey's complex mental lives and decided to sort it all with just a couple of sentences.

I did not understand the interest in Catcher in the Rye and this book confirms I am sadly not a Salinger fan.

Thank you everyone though for passing this book on, it was interesting to read, just not my cup of tea. But as always, you won't know until you've tried! :-)

I will put the book aside for now but will look into releasing shortly.

Thanks again.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:

I finally finished some months ago , Salinger's book and although I began to read it with a big curiosity and enthousiasm I didn't appreciate it as I thoughtat the beginning.
I wasn't taken by the story but I can say the characters were very good developed . Salinger wrote already a masterpiece and it isn't easy for a creator to repeat his triumph as "The catcher in the rye".
Perhaps other people can apreciate this work more than me
