Received from PaperBackSwap to read before the Oxford convention.
Different cover.
Back cover:
Detective Inspector Susan Holden is used to fighting for every inch in her personal life and career. Now, after an agonizing loss and a professional setback, she needs to prove she can keep fighting or innocent victims. So when senior citizen Nanette Wright is poisoned at her nursing home, Susan turns up plenty of relatives, staffers - and strangers - who wanted the seemingly harmless senior citizen dead.
But then suspects begin dying violently, and Susan is forced to rely on instinct to untangle a web of twisted relationships, scandalous secrets and blindsiding motives. And bringing the real killer to justice means sparking consequences that could end even more lives - including her own.
----------------------------------------------------------------
I enjoyed this - a real page-turner. I didn't care at all for Inspector Susan Holden; found her very unpleasant and couldn't summon much sympathy for her despite her recent loss. She's good at her job, though!
I look forward to meeting the author at the Oxford convention!
