Picked this up today from the Flanagan's Irish Pub, Vienna. I have had this book before and I tried to read it with not much success. My father was a fan of Barbara's and I remember when I still lived at home; meeting him having a night snack, some wine and Barbara Pym by the kitchen table. Well, not having Barbara Pym by the kitchen table, that sounds kinky, READING Barbara Pym. And I always thought I pity anyone with a name like Pym, but it stuck in my mind. When Dad passed away I got his Pym-collection and this is the only one I've tried. However, in two months time there will be a BC-convention in Oxford and who else but Barbara Pym will be the topic of one lecture! I'm seeing Releanna tomorrow and ask if she wants to get to know Barbara before the lecture.

These people are leading quite a boring life, I think. I rather like to read about such life, but I wouldn't like to live like that myself.

Tarya is going to listen to a lecture about Barbara Pym and I gave the book to her. I don't know if she has time to read the book, but she can read some pages of it, I hope.

Annelis surprised me on Monday with a pile of wishlist books - and this Pym book! I'm heading to Oxford (via London) next Tuesday and before that I won't probably have time to read much anything so I'll browse this in the plane in order to learn a little bit about the subject and to be a little bit wiser at the Convention ;) As I'm not sure if and when I can be online during the trip, I'll release this already beforehand to the book buffet. Thank you for civilizing me, Annelis! :)

I could not let go of Pym before reading it (at least a bit more) and for some reason there was no time to read during the Convention weekend - :P - so the book came back home with me from Oxford..

Taloyhtiön ulkoremonttia tekevien ilmeisen ammattitaidottomien ja huolimattomien korjausmiesten takia kotini lainehti vettä kahdesti kahden viikon sisällä. Purkuun menevät niin lattiat kuin (pieni) osa seiniä ja kattoakin, mutta kun sen ensimmäisen tulvan jäljiltä olin nostanut kastumiselta varjeltuneet kirjat sivuun ja tarpeeksi korkealle, uusia kirjavahinkoja ei tullut. Nyt asunto on kuitenkin tyhjennettävä, joten kirjat(kin) ovat vailla uutta kotia.

OBCZ Columbuksen hylly on jäänyt kauppakeskuksessa työmaa-aitojen sisälle, joten vien nyt kirjoja Redin Olohuoneen kierrätyshyllyyn. Käy nappaamassa sieltä luettavaa!
